Grab those wellies and head down to Charlbury this weekend for two days packed full of top-quality music and first-rate vibes.
Riverside Festival is a free music festival in Charlbury, Oxfordshire. It will be running on Saturday 30th to Sunday 31st July, 2022. The festival grounds are Charlbury’s famed Millfield Island, just opposite the town’s train station.
This year, Riverside Festival is celebrating its Silver Jubilee. And the line-up of the 25th iteration of Oxfordshire’s biggest free music festival doesn’t disappoint!
Music Line-up at Riverside 2022
Riverside Festival features 3 stages, which boast an impressive range of acts. Some notable performers from the main stage include:
- Kanadia – this 4-piece alternative rock group have a huge, powerful sound. If you’re a fan of Stereophonics, Nirvana or Pixies then DON’T MISS THIS.
- Dolly Mavies –truly has the power to sooth souls with her atmospheric, and euphoric blend of modern folk and indie.
- The Mighty Redox – they are the self-proclaimed “half punk/half hippy staples of Oxford music, playing upbeat psychedelic blues workouts of pure energy.” Say no more.
- Knights of Meatis – a 9-piece country/folk combo providing soulful, richly-textured songs with that will immerse you in the blissful feeling of a simpler, happier time.
These acts are just a small selection of what Riverside has to offer. The Second Stage features the widely acclaimed, 9 piece indie band The Shapes, along with the atmospheric alt-pop of Bethany Weimers.
On the Fringe Stage you will find the likes of Dr Steevo’s psychedelic sounds, the sweet country harmonies of the Ock street band, the hard-rocking of Beaver Fuel, and many more.
There will doubtless be something for everyone at Riverside. And that’s really saying something – if previous years’ attendance is anything to go by then this number may exceed 5000 strong,! Click this link to view the full line-up.
Other Entertainment at Riverside Festival
This year’s Riverside Festival will feature a wellness tent, where you can try-out Pilates, reflexology, Reiki energy healing, crystal healing, breathwork, meditation or sound therapy. All you have to do is sign up in advance!
The festival also offers craft demos that will include willow weaving, bronze axe casting and stone masonry. Riverside is a family-friendly event, and there will be plenty of free activities for kids.
There will be ample food (including veggie and vegan options), and 2 bars from which to grab a refreshing beverage, alcoholic or otherwise. Festival-goers will be also be able to indulge in a CBD cocktail, if they fancy getting a little loose without the hangover!
Keeping Riverside Festival Free
The stunning line-up of music and activities for this festival is all FOR FREE. Riverside is run on the hard-work of volunteers, and all proceeds from food and drink purchases and donations is refunneled back into the festival for the following year.
As keeping the festival free relies on these proceeds, the festival organisers urge people to splash some cash. So, if you can then head down with a full wallet and indulge! You’ll can rest assured that by sipping that refreshing glass full of delicious Pimm’s that you’re doing a good deed.
With just 2 days until Oxfordshire’s biggest free music festival, it’s time to plan travel and get organised! If you’re an Oxford local then you’re looking at a sub-£10 train fee for a 15-minute ride over to Charlbury. The trains run every hour, so there’s really no excuse!
